Strong Quake Hits Bali
Welcome to Nyubi.com! 6.4 earthquake rocked Indonesia Bali Island on Saturday, hours after the quake struck the island of Sulawesi, but there was no immediate report serious injuries or substantial damage to both.
Bali earthquake struck at 6:06 (2306 GMT Friday), at a depth of 36 km (22 miles), according to the geophysics institute of Indonesia.
The epicenter was 101 kilometers southeast of the resort Nusa efforts bag located in the southern part of Holiday Island.
"There is no indication that the TIDE in Kuta increased. So pretty safe here," district police chief Dody Prawira State Kuta said.
Health Ministry's crisis center head, Rustam Pakaya said that eight people who suffered broken bones and a pregnant woman to the hospital.
"No deaths or major damage, just cracked in several buildings," said Pakaya.
A magnitude 5.8 earthquake struck the island of Sulawesi, a few hours earlier, seismologists said.
The earthquake struck at 3:34 pm (1834 GMT Friday), at a depth of 103 kilometers, according to the revised report from the U. S. Geological Survey (USGS).
Epicenter 110 kilometers north-northwest of Ternate in the Moluccas and 260 kilometers east of Manado in Sulawesi.
Hawaii-based Pacific Tsunami Warning Center did not issue a tsunami warning for the two cases.
Indonesia sits on the Pacific "Ring of Fire" where continental plates meeting causes high volcanic and seismic activity.
